I am wondering did anyone enjoy the tv series, "Love and Hate" as much as I did? They say there will be,a new, series but like I feel I am waiting forever! In the meantime..the real thing happens in the streets of Dublin

I called the feral cat, Jim. He reminded me of the man my mother married after her divorce. There was a bit of a dick (witting -not- dumb) about him. Jim died. I think its time to call the cat-catcher, I am getting fed up having to fed the darn thing as my mother did with her Jim.

I haven't been so unwell in a long time. I guess it started 9 days ago with just one of those chicken feather tickle at the back of the throat, until it came to excusing myself from my audit client, or teaching class.

It was difficult to put on a happy face at Christmas but I didn't want to spoil the occasion for anyone. So, I stayed out for 4 hours. That's been it mostly as the rest of time has been spent suffering in silence. That was until today..

Today changed everything, and I got an emergency appointment with the doctor who confirmed I had the norovirus. Not pleasant at all, particularly on top of everything else. I never knew there is a current pandemic of this virus in the UK. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Good news? Well I still have a wee while longer of work.

Empathy is a strange thing. Brexit doesn’t directly affect me, and neither does Trump, but I wake up each morning experiencing concern for all those that are, and will be, negatively affected. From my perspective, only an empathy deficit can explain why people voted that way; but there is no reciprocating switch I can turn off. I feel for them too.

Personally I voted to leave the EU for a number of reasons, it's not that I don't have empathy towards those who genuinely need refuge but in order to help those people there needs to be a proper infrastructure in place which isn't open to abuse by purely economic migrants, my reasoning is that if there's pot of gold at the end of the rainbow then they'll stop making the journey.

The UKs infrastructure simply can't cope for much longer with the current influx, our health, policing, education and housing systems (especially in the north of England) are crumbling under the pressure which is unfortunate but true.

Secondly, we didn't actually vote to join the EU in the first place, everyone I've asked who actually did vote in the 70s were under the impression we were only voting to join the single market, I feel the EU and British government has snuck through too much legislation over the years which goes above and beyond what was initially agreed to, some of that legislation I also find to be pretty nefarious to be honest.

As an Englishman it saddens me to feel my government is corrupt to the core but I don't think the amount of proof over the years can be denied, the common man and woman has spoken and shown they're not willing to take their illegal wars or bias propaganda any longer, I feel the Brexit vote was the first step in cleaning house.

I think the EU is pretty much finished anyway, if it hadn't been the UK to jump ship first then either France or Italy would have been, it'll certainly be intresting to see what concessions are offered by Brussels to those two member states when we trigger article 50.

Hopefully the vote won't effect those who truly do need asylum and I'd hate to think 17.2 million brits are completely lacking any empathy at all, a country full of sociopaths isn't a pleasant thought... especially since it's exactly what I feel our politicians are.

In the short-term it will financially affect the most vulnerable in society.. the elderly and investments they made to secure their future. Already they lost so much when the bottom fell out of the housing market. ..I felt so sorry for Mum when that happened.

As for myself..I am one of the fortunate people having dual nationality between UK and Ireland.

Despite being unwell I still went out for family Christmas lunch yesterday. I am not sure about tonight's party though..don't feel the full shilling.

One thing this Christmas has taught me though; is who my true friends really are, and who just used me for their own benefit. That was good to know.

Y"know as the day progresses it can just get better or worse. Well, mines deteriorated into something pretty bad, and I am super annoyed I know have a heavy cold. I had so many things to do, and all I was fit for was lay on the sofa with the electric blanket on and between taking medicines facebook all day. I am hoping tomorrow will be better.

We are now officially off work for the Christmas holidays until the 9th of January, and listening to the wind howling and the rain battering on my bedroom window doesn't exactly inspire me to get up and start my day. After all, it's a holiday day..so why bother.

Home in time for Christmas, and looking forward to it :) Rome, yet again met all possible expectations. I absolutely feel so much peace and happiness there especially in Vatican City. Pictures are on Facebook ..they are set public so should be easy enough to view if we have common facebook friends.

Tomorrow is my nephews wedding and I am looking forward to it, not only to see him married but to see my sister who is disabled finally get out of bed after 15 years. I am so excited for her, and pray this will bring determination and hope for a new way of life for her. I will light a candle in the Vatican for her on Tuesday with that in mind. :)

At last, a day off! A day for me; it's crazy but I get so excited having some "me" time! I am going to do all those girly things today, like get my nails, eyebrows and waxing done! I have to start selecting what I want to take to Rome with me next week, and get a rigout organised for my nephews wedding on Monday.

Strawberry protein porridge for breakfast this morning I thinks.. oodles to do, and a workout at 10.15. So, that will set me up well for the day!

I found the finale of "Westworld' disappointing after watching all the episodes. I wanted to shake the tv to make it give a better conclusion! Antony Hopkins never fails to bring us a good performance, but the storyline just fractured at the end.

This was True Detective first season good, and that worries me for their second season. The bar might be set too high now. I would have actually preferred this as a mini-series, with the story wrapped up after twelves episodes or so. Hopkins + Wright on screen at the same time is like a master class in dramatic acting.

My fitbit says I burnt 478 calories whilst sleeping. That's a great improvement from last week! Just proves the more active you are... the quicker your system burns them off. Last week I was on a 350 calorie burn for a 7 hour sleep period, but then I was sedentary as I was sitting driving and auditing most of the week.

Just one more week left before the Christmas holidays. I feel smug as that makes me happy, but hell I worked hard enough for it! Work had been chaotic recently.

Holidays kick off with a wedding and party next Monday and then its off to Rome, to come back to my best friends 50th Birthday party on the Saturday night. That promises to be a hoot as she theming it on a formal casino evening.

Yup definitely looking forward to finishing up next Friday evening and winding it up for 2016.

Even after 6 years, I still think of my pet every day and miss him so much. I think its time I left where I live and more into new pastures, but here its a memory of the bitter and the sweet. I will take him in my heart wherever I go.
